A BARRY postman has been providing the ultimate in first class services - delivering two of his wife's babies.
Four-week-old Benjamin Rhys Gareth Parfitt was the second child to be delivered unexpectedly by dad Andrew on the living room floor of their Clos Llawhaden home.
And nearly two years ago, daughter Tianna-Joy was born in exactly the same circumstances.
Andrew, 26, said that when his wife Victoria, 29, went into labour with Tianna-Joy, unable to wait to get to hospital, panic erupted in the household.
"I was totally on edge," said the dad-of-four. "I had never seen anything like it in my life. I remember swearing a lot, and I don't usually swear!
"But it was a hell of an experience. Every emotion was going through my body and I just kept looking at Vicky, thinking please just be ok."
Victoria said she hoped Benjamin would have been born in hospital, but after her 45-minute labour with Tianna, she had planned for an unexpected birth by purchasing a cheap shower curtain and keeping towels and blankets in the living room.
During both Tianna-Joy's and Benjamin's births, Andrew was guided through the process by an emergency medical dispatcher (EMD).
Newly-qualified EMD Rhys Griffiths, 19, from Cwmbran, was on the other end of the line during Benjamin's delivery.
Andrew said: "Rhys was great and I don't know what we would have done if it wasn't for him.
"We had Rhys on the phone, and both mine and Vicky's mother present. It was a real family affair and I wouldn't swap it for the world."
