Councillor calls for calming on Coldbrook

A LOCAL councillor is calling for traffic calming measures on Coldbrook Road East after a collision between a car and a residential property wall - as reported in last week's Barry and District News.

This is not the first time a collision has happened near the spot, and Cllr Fred Johnson, along with Cllr Neil Moore, reported to the highways authority the number of accidents and near misses on this stretch of road.

A traffic survey was taken in August this year and the results and findings reported to the council in September.

Officers found no evidence to justify traffic calming measures.

But Cllr Johnson along with Cllr Neil Moore, visited the scene after the accident to reassure residents that they would like to introduce traffic calming measures along this stretch of road before a serious accident or fatality occurs.

Both councillors have written to the highways authority asking them to reconsider the whole stretch of Coldbrook Road East and report back their findings as soon as possible.
