Girls team display winning rhythm

CONGRATULATIONS to Nicole Gannon, aged 10, nine-year-olds Carys Knapman and Jaye Hall, and Shannan Bates, aged eight, from Barry Rhythmic Gymnastic Club.

Nicole and Carys shone at the recent novice-intermediate and grades competition in Caerleon. Nicole received a gold medal for her hoop routine and bronze for her free, winning gold for first overall in grade 5.

Carys Knapman won gold for first with her hoop routine and silver for her free, and received another gold for first overall.

Jaye, Carys and Nicole are through to the British Grade Finals in December.

At the Welsh Championships held at the Welsh Institute of Sport Cardiff, Carys received a bronze medal for coming third, with Jaye Hall fourth and Shannan Bates fifth in the under 10 section.

The girls train at the Holm View Leisure Centre four times a week with coaches Lucy Eveleigh (nee Bennett) and Alison Helm. Beginners classes for ages three to 15 are held every Friday. For details call 07817 554474.
