GOING away to play for your country is a dream for many 12-year-olds, but for Barry boy Adam Harding, his dream has become a reality.
Adam, who lives in Court Road, has been chosen to represent England in the Under 13s Ice Hockey World Junior Championships in Quebec, Canada, in February.
But Adam needs to find £2,000 to fund his trip.
He was given £100 by Specsavers opticians in Barry last week.
Chris Simpkins, a Specsavers partner, said: 'Firstly Adam is a local lad, and secondly, we like ice hockey here..'
Adam, an Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg pupil, has been playing ice hockey since the age of seven, and has always been ahead of other players in his age group. He plays for the Cardiff Devils' under-14 and under-16 teams, training twice a week. But he will have to increase that before he joins his England colleagues in Quebec.
* If you would like to contribute to potential ice hockey champion Adam's trip, contact his mum Abbey on 07980 748203.
