Barry run rampant in one-sided victory

BARRY Under-11s delivered a timely notice of what they are capable of when they ran in 11 tries in a friendly match against Kayaks Under 11s with four tries from Kyle Barros, three from Sam Roberts and two each from David Parkes and Aaron Reid.

After only two league defeats all season last year, Barry started this season full of optimism, but with a disappointing away defeat in their opening league match this season against Rumney, they were looking to bounce back with a performance of typical running flair and they weren't to disappoint.

Barry, kicking off up the slope, scored within a couple of minutes of the match commencing with Sam Roberts running clean through some lacklustre tackling to touch down and convert.

Soon afterwards Kyle Barros split the defence for Barry's second try. With less than ten minutes of play, Barros fired a beautiful long pass to Roberts who cut infield and as he was tackled slipped the ball to David Parkes who completed a well worked third try.

Further tries were scored in the first half by Aaron Reid, Kyle Barros and Sam Roberts to turn 40 points to 5 up at half time. Barry now had the assurance of a pack gaining in confidence, with new caps Alex Jones and Lloyd Williams both playing their part, together with wind and slope assistance.

With the groundwork being achieved in softening up their opponents, the back line of Barros, Reid and Roberts showed electric pace in the second half and exploited the gaps with a further four tries between them after good support from hooker Dominick Lack, second row Daniel Jones and scrum half Matthew O'Sullivan.

Barry are not far off being back to their best and now have the confidence to tackle forthcoming league matches against Llantwit Major and Fairwater.
