Player was banned

A Barry Town player has allegedly flouted Welsh FA rules by playing for the club while banned.

Leon Jeanne, aged 21, received a four-match ban while playing for Carpenters Arms (in the 4 walls 4 sale league), which meant he was banned from playing for any Welsh club between Monday, August 29 and Monday, September 26.

But the player turned out for Barry Town in a Welsh Cup match against Ento Aberaman on September 10. The Football Association of Wales have confirmed they are carrying out an investigation into an alleged breach of suspension by the player.

*Former Cardiff City star Leon Jeanne was released by Sam Hammam"s side in May 2002, after refusing to provide a mandatory second drugs test.

That summer, he was due to line up against Barry Town for Havant and Waterlooville in a pre-season friendly.

But his appearance was stopped when eagle-eyed officials from the Barry side queried whether he was eligible to play - he had previously picked up a suspended sentence for failing a drugs test and was banned from playing until he faced an FAW disciplinary commission.
