BARRY FC are finding life extremely tough in the Vale of Glamorgan Premier League, of that there's no doubt.
Although the behind-the-scenes set-up would be the envy of many a Welsh League side, let alone a local league side, winning points on the pitch is also crucially important to the development of the young club.
Playing at Jenner Park on Tuesday night and Saturday afternoon to a combined audience of just over 300 people, Barry FC lost 3-0 to Colcot FC in their opening home game, and then were taken apart 5-0 by last year's runaway champions, Master Mar-iner.
If nothing else, it at least proved that the people of Barry are desperate to watch football at Jenner Park - whatever the club.
It's a shame such big crowds weren't able to witness more positive results for Barry FC, but with entry being by donation only, hopefully the fans will keep faith with the team until the corner of fortune is eventually turned.
The fact that Barry FC were undone by several goals of excellent calibre in both matches won't ease the burden of knowing that the club has picked up just one point in the first three games.
Still, it's early days, but if Barry FC are to progress further up the footballing ladder they must earn the right by performing on the pitch.
Hopefully this will come sooner rather than later, and fans must understand that the team is being asked to play against established teams with some of the very best in local talent.
This weekend, Barry FC travel to the Barry Sports Centre to take on Elec-Tec for a 2.15pm kick-off. Come early to find the pitch! Don't forget that you can keep up with events at www.forzabarry.co.uk
