Couple say a fond goodbye to home

A COUPLE who started up a well-established Barry care home 21 years ago will hand over the keys to the new owners this week.

Peter and Lorraine Battle, who started Kenilworth Residential Care Home in 1984 with just six residents, are being taken over by Richard Harrison and Sheik Karim.

The home, situated on Friars Road, now caters for 38 people.

Mr Battle said: "There have been many very happy and sad moments over the years. We fondly remember the many residents we have provided care for, and we sadly miss those presently living at Kenilworth.

"The success of Kenilworth was only possible due to the staff and we would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff, past and present, who have worked so hard to provide a home from home."

Mr and Mrs Battle would also like to thank the friends and families of the residents who have offered them support over the years, and also to all the GPs, community nurses, professional people, traders and social workers.

Mr Battle continued: "We would like to pass our best wishes to Richard Harrison and Sheik Karim who are taking over Kenilworth.
