Seige man was shot in the testicle

A BARRY man will lose his left testicle after being shot by police with a rubber bullet, a court heard on Tuesday.

Dominic Peck, 39, of North Walk, claimed he was holding a woman hostage in a flat in Arno Road, Barry, when the incident occurred.

He told police he was holding the woman at gunpoint and had a knife pressed against her throat.

Armed police stormed the flat and fired a rubber bullet at Peck, deliberately aiming for his "belt region".

But the bullet hit Peck below the belt and he is now waiting for an operation to remove his injured left testicle.

Cardiff Crown Court heard how Peck had barricaded himself into the flat with neighbour Amanda Lacey when police turned up to arrest him for a minor offence.

Prosecutor Karl Williams said: "Peck was aggressive and swearing at the officers. He threw an axe through the window and claimed he had a Glock 9mm pistol and a shotgun in the flat.

"He also told officers he was holding a knife to the neck of hostage Miss Lacey."

At one point Peck shouted: "I've got a knife to her head - and I'm going to push it in right now."

The police armed response team were called to the scene and fired a rubber bullet at Peck.
