Brynhill wet but happy

THE BRYNHILL Golf Club Senior Section annual open day was very well attended by other South Wales Clubs, who were all favourably impressed by the excellent condition and presentation of the course by Ian Grant, course manager and his staff.

The winners were:-

Category A: 1st Phil Edwards, Brynhill; 2nd E Maddox, Mountain Ash; 3rd E Davies, Pontardawe.

Category B: 1st Allan Rees, Brynhill; 2nd G Shipton, Mountain Ash; 3rd V McCarry, Pennard.

Category C: 1st M Anderson, Dinas Powis; 2nd R Colston, Brynhill; 3rd F Davidson, Brynhill.

Longest drive: J Lacy, Grove.

Nearest the pin: C Airey, Gower.

The Dennis Haydon Cup for the highest-scoring registered member of the Brynhill Golf Club Senior Section was won by Allan Rees, the section captain.

The Open Competition was organised by Mal Guthrie with assistance on a very long day from course marshals C Hoskens and D Pocknell and starters I Brown and G Prosser, who all braved some very heavy downpours along with the competitors.

Thanks were also extended to the registration team of B Ritchie and D Roberts, the card returns assessor, John Kirkpatrick, and other section members who helped on the day.

Kevin Niblett, the club's newly installed caterer was run off his feet providing food all day, which was greatly appreciated and helped restore damp spirits.
