Amanda is in luck

SOON-TO-BE wedding dress shop manager Amanda Williams" luck was in when she telephoned Barry College to enrol her daughter on a course - and spoke to Hannah Gillette.

Hannah is the GMTV bride from Barry, who marries fiance James Burdge live on tomorrow morning"s show.

Amanda, aged 38, of Greenacres, Barry, was trying to get her 17-year-old daughter Sinead onto a manicure course at the college.

But before she knew it, Amanda was discussing the possibility of providing Hannah"s bridesmaid dress for her wedding, which takes place in Sun City, South Africa, tomorrow.

"It was such a fluke," said Amanda, who is aiming to open Unique Beginnings by Amanda Jane, in Canton, in October. "One minute we were talking about getting my daughter on the course, and the next we were talking about me designing Hannah"s bridesmaid dress.

"I was sick of talking about weddings to be honest, but I couldn"t really say no to her! It"s a fantastic opportunity."

Amanda, is paying for the dress herself, said before the garment joined the rest of the wedding party on the flight to South Africa, she had to fly to Dublin and back in one day - just to rectify an error on the dress.

The dress was made by Dublin-based bridal designer Tamem Michael.

*The Barry and District News was not allowed to view the dress before going to Press, but pictures of Hannah and James" wedding will be published in next week"s edition.
