Stab charge man bailed

A 64-year-old Barry man, charged with stabbing his 42-year-old son at the weekend, has been released on bail.

Richard McCauley, of St Andrews Road, is alleged to have assaulted Anthony McCauley in the early hours of Sunday morning, causing him grievous bodily harm.

He was granted bail on condition that he lives at a specified address in Barry, observes a curfew between 7pm and 7am, reports to Barry police station at noon each day, does not approach prosecution witnesses, including his son, and does not go to Elizabeth Avenue in Barry.

His next court appearance will be a pre-trial hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, September 7.

Anthony McCauley was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries, where he remains, although his condition has improved.
