SOUTH Wales Police were available to provide information to local residents last week as they held an open surgery at Barry Mosque on Friday, August 12.
The session allowed police in Barry to create stronger links with the community and local residents, and to offer them advice on how they can prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime.
Acting Sergeant Alex Gregory and Pc Matt Kingdom were on hand at the surgery to offer advice on protecting mobile phones, vehicles, cycles and business property, and explain how residents can report crimes to the police.
More than 80 people attended the event, which concentrated not only on offering crime prevention advice to local residents, but also provided information on the job opportunities available within South Wales Police.
Acting Sergeant Alex Gregory said: "We had a very good turn-out at the surgery with a number of people interested in the career opportunities offered by South Wales Police. "Overall the event was extremely successful and we plan to hold more in the future." Superintendent Sue Hayes, Divisional Commander for the Vale of Glamorgan, said "We are very grateful to the leaders of the mosque for their hospitality.
"The event provided an excellent opportunity for local residents to receive police advice on a wide range of issues."
