Welsh athletes triumph in Special Olympics Games

THE WELSH Team returned triumphant from the Special Olympics National Games, held in Glasgow, with an impressive tally of 300 medals.

Around 300 Welsh athletes competed in a number of different events, including cycling, swimming, athletics and boccia to amass a total of 300 medals.

The athletes won 101 gold, 104 silver and 95 bronze medals.

They competed against teams from England, Scotland and Ireland, as well as Europe.

Roger Bowen, Welsh Special Olympics team manager, said: "Throughout the games the whole team put in very impressive performances."
