War traitor

LORD "Haw Haw" (William Joyce) led a peripatetic life which brought him to live in Newland Street, Barry in 1938. He lived here for approximately three months working in the town.

Whilst we know of his visit, what is unknown is it"s purpose. Was it to service the active Black-Shirt group in Barry, or was it to establish part of the Abwehr (German intelligence) network which operated in South Wales pre-war? Or even to himself map our important port facilities?

Do any readers remember his short stay here and in Cardiff or can they throw any light on the purpose of his visit to Barry?

Furthermore, whilst he was hung for treason after the war, his wife Margaret survived. Did she also come to Barry?
