St Athan air cadets excel in athletics contest

AIR Cadets from 2300 (St Athan) Squadron participated in the Inter Squadron Athletics tournament, held at Leckwith Athletics Stadium, with many outstanding performances

With hundreds of cadets from 20 squadrons present, the competition and pride between squadrons was tough as everyone gave 100 per cent.

Several cadets gave outstanding performances including: Dan Rogers winning the high jump and long jump; Yetti Hitchin winning the 800m; and David Crofts winning the javelin competitions.

These cadets will now go onto represent No 1 Welsh Wing at RAF Cosford.

This excellent performance completes another outstanding sporting season, which has seen the cadets participate in football, cross country, rugby, netball and hockey competitions.

The cadets regularly attend weekly sports/fitness sessions to improve their fitness and learn new sports and improve their skills.

The cadets will now look forward to spending the summer undertaking flying, gliding, shooting, Duke of Edinburgh, summer camps, fieldcraft and team-building exercises.
