A BREWERY is set to open in Barry - and will be supplying real ale to pubs in the area.

The Vale of Glamorgan Brewery is run by two highly experienced home-brewers, Ian Teagle and Dave Walbeoff, who both work for Dow Corning.

They will be based at Atlantic Trading Estate in Barry, and their first brew will be ready for tasting this Friday.

The brewery is the only one in the Vale of Glam-organ, as Bull Mastiff now brew elsewhere.

Ian and Dave have been working with the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) advisors for more than 12 months, to ensure the production facility and operation is right.

Ian said: "For years, Dave has been successfully brewing at home, and it was in 2004 that, over one of his really great pints, we decided to have a go at taking this brewing thing seriously.

"It took us nearly 18 months to get to the stage where we were ready to brew."

John Chapman of CAMRA said: "This is a very exciting development for brewing in the Vale of Glamorgan and in South Wales.

"The Vale of Glamorgan Brewery has done all the research and development work to succeed. The production site is very sophisticated and CAMRA is very impressed with the set-up.

"Ian and Dave know what they're doing to produce a very good brew - something the Vale will be proud of.
