A BARRY family claim their recent night out in Cardiff was "spoilt" when the last train home was cancelled, and the replacement bus didn't turn up.
The family had hoped to catch the 9.27pm train home, but this was cancelled due to work on the track.
Train operator Arriva Trains Wales had organised a bus to replace the train, but the family say that after 45 minutes of waiting, no bus had appeared.
Family member Geoff McEvoy said: "We were meant to be on the train at 9.27pm. At 10.15pm we were still standing at the back of the station, and after waiting that long, we gave in and paid for our own taxi. My mother missed her bus home and we were all tired and cold."
He continued: "It's hard to believe Arriva Trains Wales were able to re-open a line between Barry and Bridg-end, but unable to transport their passengers when they cancel a train and run a bus.
"I was extremely annoyed, and so were some of the other 33 people, who waited patiently for the laid-on bus.
"I think it's terrible as it is, that we should have to travel on carriages that are often over-crowded, dirty and smelly, but to be made to wait with no definite information from staff, who all disappeared 10 minutes after the bus was due to leave, really took the Michael."
