It's ruinous

IT was a beautiful dawn last Saturday and as I hadn"t been to Barry Island for a while I took the dog to walk there.

(No, not on the beach, and yes, I did have scoop bags with me!)

As I approached Butlins I was disappointed to see the removing of the indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

Even though over many years I have watched them deteriorate, I did hope that somebody would find a few bob and do them up, turning it into a going concern.

What an asset it would have been, it could have been used all year by us Barrians as well as encourage tourism here.

But it"s gone, another landmark disappeared from Barry, and as many houses as possible crammed into that space!

I wonder now where"s next to be allowed to fall into ruin only to eventually be knocked down.

The Watch Tower at the Old Harbour? It"s well on its way.
