Big day on TV

A BARRY couple have won their dream wedding - after winning over viewers of ITV1's morning show GMTV.

Hannah Gillette and fiance James Burdge, of the Waterfront, were jumping for joy when GMTV arrived on their doorstep on Monday morning to tell them they had won.

They were chosen after viewers voted them ahead of the three other finalist couples.

Hannah, aged 22, said: "We were watching the television to see if we had won.

"James was ready for work and was wearing his work clothes as we weren't expecting to win.

"We didn't want to build up our hopes too much.

"Then we saw they were outside our flat - it was fantastic and we were told it was very close on the voting.

"I don't think either of us did much work that day because we were so excited about the prospect of our wedding."

They have only been a couple for a year, and engaged for six months, but since the day they first met they have been inseparable - and are in no doubt they have found a soulmate in each other.

James, aged 27, is training to be a brickie, and is a labourer and driver for Taylor Woodrow.

He is overjoyed that they can relax and enjoy their wedding preparations.

He said: "We have been planning our wedding for a while now, but it would not have been so quick.

"We were looking through magazines to find Hannah a dress and we needed to save up."

James, who was born in the Rhondda, met Hannah when he plucked up the courage to speak to her at Eze Bar.

Hannah lived in Cwm Talwg and James on Everard Street at the time.

He said: "I had seen Hannah out a few times before but it took me a while to speak to her. Then one day I had a bit of Dutch Courage and decided to ask her out for a drink."

GMTV viewers have not finished their good work because they will be voting for every detail of the wedding itself.

On July 4, GMTV viewers will vote for secret wedding venues.

Hannah, an admissions and guidance assistant at Barry College, is more than happy that the viewers will be deciding everything.

She said: "It takes a lot of the pressure off us. We will be going down to London regularly to be shown various options for different parts of the wedding.
