*C Milner, the Cadoxton schoolboy who on Saturday added the Welsh boys (14 to 16 years) road walking championships to his already impressive list of titles, has been chosen to represent Glamorgan in the Welsh Secondary Schools Athletic Cricket Club.
*A 16-year-old apprentice, Stanley Haydn Evans, of Broad Street, Barry, has been awarded second prize in a competition run for apprentices by a trade magazine.
*The committee set up by the Council to deal with matters relating to Jenner Park should have a regular meeting night, said Cllr R D Williams at Monday"s meeting of the Town Council.
*There was an improvement in recruitment to the Civil Defence Force in Wales during May, a total of 267 being actually recruited.

*Fears over more heavy lorries rumbling through Barry"s Park Crescent have stalled a bid for a new access point from a booming small factory in the town.
*Group Captain Tony Law, senior administrative officer at RAF St Athan, welcomed the latest recruits to his security - air dogs Jason and Major.
*Barry resident Mary Saunders of St Paul"s Avenue, took third place in a talent competition held at Pontins in South Devon.
*Harry Shugg, the former wildlife Conservation Officer for Western Australia who, with Mary Shugg, has been on a two-year world tour by camper-wagon, recently paid a return visit to Barry.
