Marathon effort for Memorial

A BARRY woman and her brother-in-law will be running the Cardiff marathon in October to raise money for the Jamie Adamson Memorial Fund.

The fund was set up by the Barry and District News along with Paul and Nicola Adamson, in memory of their son Jamie, who died from leukaemia at the age of five.

Dawn Martin, of Plymouth Road, decided to raise money for the fund because five years ago her daughter Natalia was diagnosed with the same condition as Jamie.

Natalia, now aged 10, was diagnosed with leukaemia when she was just five years old, but was thankfully given the all-clear two years ago.

Dawn said: "I"ve always wanted to thank Latch for all they did for us when Natalia was ill, and this is my way of doing it. I also want to help Jamie"s dad Paul to reach his fundraising target."

Dawn has been training with her brother-in-law Mike James, and the pair are confident they will complete the course in five hours.

The marathon takes place on Sunday, October 9.

* The money from the Jamie Adamson Memorial Fund, which is open throughout the year, will be split between Children With Leukaemia, and Latch - the Llandough based charity.
