Housing

THE development brief for a 600+ housing estate on the greenfield site behind Rhoose Point is being prepared by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, yet the community facilities promised for Rhoose Point have not been built.

The golf course, club house, playing field, changing rooms, pub and nature centre intended for the Rhoose Point estate are not there.

The lack of public consultation in preparing the plans for the new estate is a concern to residents. They fear the new estate will be Rhoose Point Part Two.

The Rhoose Village Preservation Group will be holding a demonstration to highlight the lack of planning gain from Rhoose Point and official indifference to the needs of the community.

Meeting at the train halt in Rhoose on Sunday, June 12 at 1pm, they will go on a march to see where the playing field, changing rooms, golf course, golf club house, pub and nature reception centre would have gone.

It is perverse that a council which has failed to get the planning gain it wanted from Rhoose Point can press ahead for another estate without consulting the public.

The community want all the promised planning gain from Rhoose Point before allowing further housing.
