Security

ON two occasions in the past 15 months I have visited Cardiff International Airport, and each time I was denied the chance to go to the second floor to view planes taking off and landing.

This week I queried why the closure of the second floor.

"It"s been closed since 9/11 disaster," I was told.

"Pardon me, why?" I asked.

"Security reasons," was the response.

"You actually allow terrorists on planes, but don"t allow genuine people to the second floor, after all this time?" said I.

"Please, to whom should I address my letter of indignation?"

Shortly afterwards a young man in a blue tunic top came down the stairs from floor two to floor one, lifted the rope cordon and replaced it.

He was not stopped, not questioned. How do I know he wasn"t a terrorist?

If we allow floor two at Cardiff International Airport to remain closed, then it means the terrorists have won.

I am writing to Vale of Glamorgan MP John Smith and my own MP David Davies and to the airport officials.
