Thank you

THE RNLI Fundraising Branch would like to thank the people of Barry and Rhoose for their generosity and continued support again this year.

Our two weeks of collecting around the houses, this with reduced helpers, was up by just a few pounds to just under £3,100. We did not expect such support this year as so many of you had given so generously to the tsunami disaster appeal.

We had experienced a slow down in support earlier in the year, but there were only a few who would not support this very worthy charity.

Normally the fundraisers in Barry also collect in the pubs and clubs, but this year the Barry Dock Lifeboat crew members - all in their wet protective suits - undertook this, collecting in almost every establishment in the town, with the total collected in four hours being £1,300.

By the crew being out on the streets this helped to raise the profile of the RNLI, as many still do not know that we have a fast afloat lifeboat here in Barry.

If you have spare time and you would like to assist us with our fundraising or arrange your own events for us, then contact 01446 720000 during office hours.

Thanks to all who supported us - but also to all who gave their time to collect.

Philip Hunt
