National title for U15 school team

LAST week saw Barry Comprehen-sive School step up their successful season from regional to national level at basketball.

They clinched the Under 15 national title with victory over Greenhill School of Camarthenshire, at UWIC.

Led by coach Leighton Coles, the boys stormed to a first-half lead of 40-25 and appeared to be cruising.

However, the team seemed to lose concentration and in the opening few minutes of the third period, Greenhill managed to peg the score back significantly, shocking the Barry team back into action.

Helped by the dynamic performance of Nathan Hougham, the Cardiff champions pulled away again and eventually ran out convincing winners by 35 points (91-56).
