Armed robbery: Arrest

A YOUTH was arrested over the weekend for allegedly committing an armed robbery.

The incident took place at the Waterfront Stores, Dock View Road, on Saturday, May 28, at approximately 6.35pm.

The alleged offence involved an imitation firearm.

A 17-year-old from the Barry area was arrested and charged with armed robbery, and was remanded in custody.

Acting DI Joe Sweeney said: "We would like to reassure the residents of the Vale that incidents such as these are extremely rare.

"Officers acted in an extremely swift and robust manner."
