Call for help

I AM writing on behalf of Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth (formerly known as Holme Tower) to thank all our past and present volunteers as part of Volunteers' Week 2005 (June 1-7).

Volunteers are involved at the very heart of our hospice. We would not be able to operate many of our services as effectively as we do without their valuable and selfless contributions.

Here in Penarth and its surrounding local communities we have well over 100 volunteers giving their time to support Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth. Roles range from raising valuable funds for our service to helping out in our charity shop.

We also have more than 70 hospice volunteers working regularly in a variety of positions from driving patients to day care, to providing patients with complementary therapies.

Their efforts help support our Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth, which actively promotes quality of life for people with cancer and provides support for their families, completely free of charge.

Volunteering creates a huge impact on our service, and I feel it is apt that while celebrating Volunteers' Week and the Year of the Volunteer 2005, I should write this letter of celebration for the work these 'angels' undertake.

For further information about volunteering opportunities within Marie Curie Cancer Care please call 029 2042 6047.
