A FEW weeks ago at a meeting to discuss the proposed development of land at Church Road/Crystal Springs and on land at the rear of St Oswalds Road, it was stated by a local councillor that the owners of the path leading from Church Road to Victoria Park were unknown.
I should like to point out that a report in the local press for 1898 gives an account of the then council taking over the highway leading from St Cadoc's Church to the Common (now Victoria Park), passing between Ael-y-Bryn and Pleasant View, with a retaining wall and steps being provided giving access to the road from the common.
In a handbook entitled Cadoxton published by the Vale Council in 1983, it states the following: 'Walk down the steps between Ael-y-Bryn and Sea View Villas down the rough track towards Church Road.
The old track is part of the old parish road between the Church and The Mount Farm. It was once planned as a road link.'
