A FOOD Co-operative has celebrated two years of success with the help of some famous faces from Welsh sport.
Former Welsh rugby international Craig Quinell and fellow Cardiff Blue Dan Baugh teamed up with the Heart of Gibbonsdown Community Food Co-Operative, which was set up to help people living in the area to buy affordable fruit and vegetables.
Jane Hutt AM, who attended the celebration, said: 'The success of this co-operative is down to the hard work of the local community.
'This is one of the best ways to get cheap quality food.'
Members of the Co-op want to thank Barry Heart Health, Community First, the VCVS, Vale Learning, The Colcot Project, Age Concern, the community police, Jane Hutt AM, the Vale of Glamorgan Health Promotion Team and all the customers for their support.
The Co-op won the Algebra Award for New Organisation of the Year, was runner-up in the Arbuthnot Optician Award for Health and Social Care, and was overall winner of the Vale of Glamorgan Council Award for the Voluntary Organisation of the Year in this year's Vale Voluntary sector awards.
