EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of May 12, 1955:

l Stan Richard, ex-Welsh international centre forward, is not among the players retained by Barry Town for the coming season.

l A welcome home party was held at the Youth Club, Cardiff Road, on Saturday by Mr and Mrs John White of John Street, Cadoxton, for their second son John William White, who returned home after three years serving with the Royal Artillery in Hong Kong.

l Speaking at the weekly luncheon of the Barry Rotary Club on Thursday, Sir Hugo Boothby Bt gave an interesting and informative address on the duties of a High Sheriff.

l Brian Harris, of Maesycwm Street, Barry, a member of the Cardiff Motor Cycle Club, won the Class A Indian Trophy in the Cardiff Motor Cycle and Car Club second Welsh all-night rally.

EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of May 15, 1980:

l One of the oldest societies in the town, the Barry Camera Club, begins its 80th year of existence at the start of the new session.

l Llantwit Major have won the South Wales Corinthian Soccer League First Division Championship for the first time in their history.

l Norman Williams has been appointed president of the Barry Chamber of Trade and succeeds Robert Davies.

l HTV personality Michael St John was in Rhoose on Saturday judging the Rhoose Carnival Queen competition at the Community Hall. The eventual winner was Lucinda Davies, of Fontygary Road, Rhoose.
