Jamie fund gets a boost

THERE was a big boost for the Jamie Adamson Memorial Fund when £2,500 was presented to founder Paul Adamson.

A cheque for £2,400 was handed over by the manager of the Old Paget Inn, Wayne Takata, and the pub"s owner Mark Barrett.

The money came from a fundraising auction held at the Inn, and a sponsored streak by some of the regulars on Grand Slam day.

Colcot Community Centre bingo also presented a £100 cheque to the fund on the night.

Paul Adamson, who with the Barry and District News set up the fund in memory of his son Jamie, who died from leukaemia at the age of five, said: "We want to thank all the people who made bids for the lots at the auction in the Old Paget Inn and all the staff there.

"And a big thank you to all the businesses who donated prizes for the event.

"We have raised thousands so far."

More Fund news next week.

l A big thank-you to all those who have donated money so far, including the staff at the Towers Surgery on Holton Road; Wayne and Mark at the Paget and all who attended and donated prizes; all at Colcot Community Centre bingo; the parents of Barry Athletic U12s and Cadoxton Imps who sponsored paul in the London Marathon; and Dave at City Print and Productions in Canton for printing the T-shirts and flag for the marathon for free.
