Verdict: Accident

A CORONER has recorded a verdict of accidental death on champion in-line skater Richard Taylor.

The 23-year-old from Barry died after he swerved to avoid a car but crashed into a lamppost, the inquest heard last week.

The court heard how Mr Taylor and two friends were testing their bravery by rolling backwards down a steep hill near Mr Taylor's home on August 3.

Mr Taylor, who was not wearing a helmet, fractured his skull. He died a few days later at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.

A month before he died he won the UK National In-Line Skating Championships for the second year running.
