SOUTH Wales Police are not only tackling crime in the Vale of Glamorgan - but are also tackling on the football pitch.
The Vale of Glamorgan division's football team played a friendly fixture against West End Wanderers, an under-15s team, at Jenner Park, Barry, last Thursday.
The game was closely fought with the Vale of Glamorgan police side eventually victorious against a Wanderers side who had many chances in a competitive and thrilling end-to-end game of football.
The game was played as a finale to Wanderers' season, and was an opportunity for the police and local community to create closer links.
Superintendent Josh Jones, Divisional Commander for the Vale of Glamorgan, said: "It is important that we build good relations with young people and the football pitch is a great place to do that.
"I am told that the lads we played against gave it their all in a very competitive game and were a credit to the club they represent.
"I think we probably shaded it on experience as most of our team rely on guile rather than speed!"
