Fly-tippers strike at rugby club again

MEMBERS of a sports club are sick of tidying up the mess left behind by fly-tippers on their ground.

Barry Rugby Club has been battling fly-tippers for years - but they hope to find a solution to the problem soon.

Club secretary Dai James said: "We would like people to report any fly-tipping to the authorities or the police. We have had this problem for years and want it to stop.

"The grounds are left open because the car park is an overflow. The only way we could stop it is by having CCTV."

Club steward Bob Kenny said: "I have worked all over the place in clubs and pubs, but this is the worst I have seen. It is terrible.

"I have only been in this job since March 1, and there have already been six occasions when someone has fly-tipped. I try to keep the area tidy, but this is too much."

On other occasions the bins have been set alight.

Mr James said: "This rubbish has to be from a business. It is not an ordinary person dumping this here. They did not want to pay for it to be disposed of at the tip."

The paint was spread over the floor and some was daubed on the wall.
