Bright start to the new tennis season

BARRY Athletic Tennis Club held their annual Open Day on Saturday, April 2, for juniors and seniors.

The day started with the junior tournament, which was well-attended on a sunny spring morning.

The competition was intense and some good tennis was played. Eventual winner was Patrick Brophy, with Owen Jennings running a close second.

Junior coaching is still ongoing on Saturday mornings. For information please contact Sue on 01446 421018.

The seniors took over in the afternoon with an equally good turnout.

The final was between 70-year-old John Davies and his equally "youthful" partner Brian Stark, up against the young "pups" Chris Richards and Neil Robin-son. In the end, it was the experienced pair of Davies and Stark that won through.
