WORKERS at a firm of hauliers are running for Ty Hafan - and they are encouraging others to do the same.
John Evans, the Managing Director of John T Evans Haulage firm, has run in the Waterfront Barry 5K race every year since it started and encourages his staff to take part. This year he will be joined by 11 staff.
And he has given an added incentive to those staff by offering a paid day's leave to whoever raises the most sponsorship money and to whoever finishes fastest.
John is a keen supporter of Ty Hafan and always lends a helping hand to the charity. He said: "We have moved items for them and we are storing what we hope is the longest scarf in the world which will be unveiled at the Millennium Stadium."
By taking part in the run he will also raise much needed sponsorship money which will go towards the 2.1million annual running costs of the hospice.
Other companies have taken up the challenge including Thomas Carroll, Atradius, Dow Chemical, Dragonfly Air Charter and HSBC, so why not join them on Sunday, May 15 at 9.45am?
Everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a race medal and goody bag with trophies presented to the first three in each for the four race categories. Anyone who raises 50 or more in sponsorship will get an exclusive Waterfront Barry 5K'2005 T-shirt.
Runners must be 16 or older on the day and entry costs 7 for affiliated runners and 8 for non affiliated runners with registration forms available from most Gilesports Shops, Leisure Centres Ty Hafan Shops and from the Ty Hafan Appeal Office on 01446 739993. A downloadable form is available from the website www.tyhafan.org
