Swan lake

DO aircraft approaching or taking off from Cardiff International Airport pass abeam the Knap Lake below a height of 600 feet? I don"t think so. And do swans fly anywhere near 600 feet in the vicinity of the Knap Lake? I don"t think so.

So are swans a menace to air traffic at Cardiff airport?

I don"t think so. Seagulls are a greater hazard, and draining the Lake will do nothing to change this. To remove this threat the Council would also have to drain the Bristol Channel and clear every rubbish dump and tip in the Vale.

Accordingly, I wish young Ellie Davies of Barry every success with her petition to keep the swans at the Knap.
