THE Vale of Glamorgan Council has announced a temporary one-way system for Barry's Holton Road while works are taking place to upgrade sewers in the area.
The one-way traffic order is being introduced from Monday, April 11, to ease congestion while Dwr Cymru Welsh Water carries out the essential upgrading works.
Contractors AMEC will be on site from April until November, and the one-way order will remain in place throughout that period.
The system will operate from east to west - from King Square towards the Civic Offices end of Holton Road.
*ocal diversion routes will be available along Gladstone Road and Tynewydd Road, and along Dock View Road.
There will be provision for residents of the side roads leading onto Holton Road to gain access to their homes by car.
Rachael Mullins of Dwr Cymru Welsh Water said: "The works being carried out are absolutely essential to update the present sewerage system.
"When completed, the works will also prevent floods from happening in Holton Road, which is one of Barry's main shopping centres."
