Missing out

I WOULD like to point out that many of your readers are missing out on free services from their gas and electricity supplier.

All gas and electricity suppliers are obliged to offer a range of free services to domestic consumers who are either over 60, live with a disability or long-term ill health, or are visually or hearing impaired.

Ofgem research shows that 74 percent of those eligible are completely unaware that these services even exist.

The range of free services which eligible consumers can choose from include a free, annual safety check of gas appliances, help with repositioning meters that are inaccessible, a unique password scheme for added protection in the home, and special controls and adapters that make appliances easier to use.
