MORE than 200 people turned out to air their views on the proposed 700-house development at Rhoose.
Residents of the village are angry that although more than 1,000 letters of complaint over the proposal have been sent to the council, no public inquiry has been granted.
Andrew Bailey, of Rhoose, ran the meeting which was attended by Gordon Kemp and Jeffrey James from the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Alun Cairns AM, Max Wallis of Friends of the Earth, Jane Hutt AM and Liberal Democrat Mark Cooper.
Residents attending the meeting were all against the plans to put the houses on the area behind the railway line in the village.
Various ideas were suggested as to how the protesters could secure a public inquiry.
At the meeting Jane Hutt AM was asked to make representations to the Assembly Minister Carwyn Jones, who has the power to recall a plan.
The council submitted the UDP to the Welsh Assembly on March 1 and the minister has until March 28 to call in part or all of the plan.
Mrs Hutt spoke about the possibility of getting the plan recalled.
Alun Cairns AM and Liberal Democrat Mark Cooper urged the audience to contact the minister involved.
