IN response to Mr W D Cronk's letter (Barry & District News, March 3) regarding the dispute between Barry Town AFC and the council, I would just like to say I absolutely agree.
Having lived in Barry all my life, but currently at Portsmouth doing my degree, I still regularly follow what's happening to my local club, and I am saddened to hear what has happened over the recent months - for the club to be kicked out of Jenner Park and not even play in their own town is absurd.
On Mr Cronk's point about Barry Town bringing great prestige to the town by promoting it and putting it on the map in Europe, I couldn't agree more.
When I tell people where I come, most of them don't know where Barry is, but they can identify Barry Town for their exploits in Europe - notably over FC Porto.
I just hope that one day the club can return to its former self, as for a town with a population of 50,000 it does not seem right not to have its own football club.
