Post office closure decision 'appalling'

RESIDENTS and councillors in Cadoxton have reacted angrily at the decision to close the Vere Street post office.

Labour leader for Vale council Neil Moore said: "It's a very sad day for Cadaxton considering how far people will now have to go in order to use postal services.

"I believe there are enough people using the Vere Street branch to justify keeping it open."

Anne Moore, councillor for Cadoc, said: "I really hoped that sense would prevail and that Vere Street post office would remain open as it has a huge catchment area and I am sure could have been a viable business.

"Not only will this very valued service be greatly missed by the residents of Cadoxton, I am also concerned about the impact that this will have on other local businesses in the area."

Ellen Verling, aged 69, of Holmes Street, said: "It's a nuisance. I do all my banking there and use it to pay my bills and draw my pension."
