CLEVER director M Night Shyamalan will find it hard to beat his top-scoring film The Sixth Sense, but The Village is just as well thought out.
Staged in a small settlement in the middle of menacing woods, thanks to an uncomfortable truce the villagers live alongside terrifying, hooded beasts who prowl among the trees.
But when the border between the two areas is violated and the red-cloaked creatures make their way towards homes.
And when one of the younger members, Lucius, is near-fatally stabbed, it's down to his betrothed Ivy - to get to the'towns' and pick up medical supplies to save his life.
To do that she has to cross through the woods, and that's where the secret twist lies.
The Village is only a 12 certificate but the plot is suspense-filled and the cinematography and characterisation is detailed, so it may be confusing and a little too spooky for some youngsters.
