Welsh League Division 1
Briton Ferry 1 Dinas Powys 4
AFTER a number of disappointing results, changes were made to both the squad and the formation.
New signing Haydn Fleming came in on the right side of midfield against a young side who have had a good run recently.
Dinas quickly got into their stride, and in the fifth minute Peter Lewis received the ball 20 yards out and his fierce shot was tipped over the bar.
Eight minutes later Rhodri Foote cut in from the touchline and hit a shot from the corner of the area across the keeper and into the far corner, to give Dinas a deserved lead.
Further efforts on goal were made by Rhodri Foote and Jason Cowan, and it took until the 28th minute for Briton Ferry to get their first shot on goal - saved by Billy Clarke.
In the 32nd minute a Dinas free kick was headed on by Peter Lewis for Kurt Bettles to force the ball home from the edge of the six yard box.
The first half ended with the away side well on top and the Dinas defence dominating, giving Briton Ferry few opportunities.
Briton Ferry came out in the second half and pressed Dinas back into their own half, coming close to scoring when a header clipped the post.
The home side were getting more possession, leaving the Dinas supporters wondering if they were going to get a repeat of the previous two games - which were both lost in the second half.
On 70 minutes Dinas had a goal disallowed after a good run by Haydn Fleming who passed to Rhodri Foote, but the linesman raised his flag for offside as he put the ball into the net.
Just four minutes later Leigh Vick and Haydn Fleming combined well to send Rhodri Foote clear. He squared the ball to Liam Jones who beat the keeper from 15 yards.
Briton Ferry struck back when a high ball into the six yard box was forced over the line along with the Dinas keeper - the referee giving the goal despite protests of a foul.
Dinas struck back within a minute when a corner was headed home by Kurt Bettles to cap a man-of-the-match performance for his work in both penalty areas.
Reserve Division East
Dinas Powys 3 Bridgend 0
BRIDGEND were the visitors to the Murch and included former Cardiff City winger Cohen Griffith in their line-up.
Dinas took control of the game from the outset and Skinner's goal was rarely troubled throughout.
Dinas took the lead through Salvage after some good work by Herniman.
Salvage added a scrappy second on the half hour.
The third and best goal of the game came from Light, who bamboozled the Bridgend defence with his silky running, then finished from what seemed an impossible angle. After going into half time three goals to the good, Dinas failed to add to their tally in the second half - although they went close on several occasions with the best efforts coming through Harries and Chee.
