EXTRACTS from the Barry & District News of December 23, 1954:

l County Coun Dr Wm Hughes addressed pupils of the Barry Island Junior Mixed, when they held their annual Christmas dinner on Thursday.

l At a recent meeting of the Barry No 1 Branch OAP the Tynewydd Road Ladies' Choir, under their conductor, Mr T Pritchard, gave a successful concert in the Wesley Hall, Holton Road.

l Rhoose Airport is now supplying jobs for 130 people it was reported at a meeting of the Welsh Advisory Council for Civil Aviation at Cardiff.

l Everything is all set for the happiest Christmas since pre way days, and local reports suggest that the festivities are already well underway.
