Sam stays cool on ice

BARRY Comprehensive School Year 11 pupil Sam Motton is much in demand at the moment.

As a qualified ice hockey referee, he is appointed as an official in the English Ice Hockey Association Division One league matches. His travels have taken him to the Midlands, Isle of Wight and he officiated in the main arena in Nottingham.

His biggest game to date has been the top-of-the-table clash between Basingstoke and Oxford. Sam is obviously one of the youngest in the country officiating at this high level and expects to be involved in Premier league games next season.

He has experience of the game as a player, but thrives on the pressure of making big decisions.
