A BARRY man has spoken out about the hell he has gone through after members of his girlfriend's family assaulted him.
Daniel McKinty of Cannon Street was set upon by three men in October 2003 while he was walking his dog Boc in the park near his house.
The 43-year-old was left with bruised ribs, a chipped tooth, two black eyes, displaced cartilage in his ribs, cuts and bruises and his nose was so badly damaged he has lost his sense of smell.
He said: "I was beaten around the face as one man held my head under his arm. My dog was so scared he tried to get under a car. I only knew that because I tried to escape under the car myself."
"I am almost fully recovered today but I was paranoid for months afterwards."
Daniel lives with his girlfriend Lucy Morgan, 36, and they have been trying to have children.
He said: "It is very stressful for both of us because of what happened. I would not like to bring a child up here if we experienced problems like that again.
"I don't know why I was attacked. We have even considered moving away from the area so we can get away from family trouble."
