Gymnasts on a roll at the grade finals

BARRY Rhythmic Gymnastic Club sent two hopefuls to the British grade finals and were delighted with the results.

They were the only club from Wales at the competition.

Nine-year-old Nicole Gannon won bronze for her free routine, gold for her hoop routine and a gold for overall British grade four champion.

Lorelei Westcott, 11, won gold for her rope routine and gold for overall British grade champion. Both girls have worked really hard and their success is well deserved.

Nicole is a rhythmic gymnast in the Welsh development squad and Lorelei is in the national squad.

Both rhythmic gymnasts train at least four times a week, sometimes more, at the club, based at Castleland Community Centre.

This year has been a real success as both the girls won the bronze medals in their age groups at the Welsh Championships in September.

The pair, coached by Lucy Eveleigh and Alison Helm, were congratulated by the club's younger gymnasts on their return to the training.

The British grade finals were held in Burton-upon-Trent.

Lorelei won grade five the year before.

Barry RGC now has three beginner classes and a development class for gymnasts aged 3-15.
