Spate of burglaries sparks police alert

BARRY police are warning residents to be more vigilant after two separate burglaries took place within three days on the same street.

They are urging residents and commercial property owners in the area to take extra crime prevention measures following two break-ins on Holton Road - two on Monday, November 15 and the second on November 17. In between the two incidents, a man was seen acting suspiciously in the area.

Office equipment was stolen on each occasion after locked doors and windows were forced. Business owners, together with local residents, are being urged to take extra measures when securing property ahead of the dark evenings.

Chief Superintendent Josh Jones of the Vale of Glamorgan police said: Last year's figures indicate burglary has fallen. I would however urge people to be responsible for their own homes.

There are simple security measures such as making sure all doors and windows are locked when they go out and setting alarms. I advise people to join their neighbourhood watch and be good neighbours. People should report anything suspicious to police.

If anyone has information call Barry CID on 01656 655555 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
